Inspiration:Building:Finished piece:Reflection:This piece was a big challenge for me. This piece was one that I had to really plan out and picture because it had so many pieces. I wanted to make a light in a piece of clay and since I remembered my childhood when I went inside a light house I wanted to recreate it. I had to make the piece in five different pieces then attach them together. The base of the house with all the rocks I built in three pieces then attached them before the clay dried. However, I had to cut holes out that would be big enough to let the cord fit through. It was most nerve recking because clay can shrink and I didn’t want to fire it then not be able to run the cable trough it. When I did get to run it through there was some difficult spots to get through. Then I made the middle part where the light went into. The only problem I had with it was adding the clay on the top of the wire and actually having it level. The wire was the only difficult part to add in. The next thing was making the cone at the top in which was difficult for two reasons. One because I need it to be level with the middle piece. It didn’t come out the greatest but it doesn’t look bad. I know that the other part was trying to build it up like that to make a point. I think I may come back to this piece just to finish off the top. The reason I say that is because the very top was never attached for the thought of wanting it to have the capability of changing the lightbulb if needed. I think if I came back to it I would just add a latch so it could stay on while also being able to open and close.
