Inspiration:Building process:Finished Product:Reflection:These fish were a learning experience. They came with many difficulties. They for one thing, on the day that I was going to get them fired, had fallen completely apart. The fins came off and everything. What ended up happening was I had to fire every single piece separately twice. For the glaze and the first firing. I then was finally able to use acrylic on the white fish to paint all the splatters. I think this piece really brought the development of my voice and creative thoughts. The piece actually holds some sentimentality with it. The story behind this piece is dealing with yin and yang. Think of the opposites that still have a little of each other in it. If you didn't notice the eyes of the fish represent that. The black eyes on the white and the white eyes on the black. The white fish then has even more representation than that. The reason the fish was painted with splatters of paint was to show my creativity. The black one however is my anxiety and doubts. The white fish was bigger because it shows my growth towards not always getting pulled down by my problems. The anxiety is still there however so thats why the black eyes and fish are still included. This piece definitely didn't come out the way it was planned but I think that is the beauty of it. I was even going to have the white fish on top trying to compress the black showing that sometimes I try to compress my anxiety by focusing on something else. I think I may redo this one in the future in which that can be actually done but I still love the representation this one holds.

Nikki- I love your statement about what you learned. I would LOVE to see you make your altered idea. Could be so cool and an opportunity to continue developing your sculpture voice. Love it!
